Fire destroys Rothsay home
ROTHSAY, Minn. — A fire destroyed a Rothsay home Saturday, Jan. 27, while the owners were away, Wilkin County Sheriff Rick Fiedler said Monday.
The fire at 241 1st Ave. N.W. was reported at 5:06 p.m., Fiedler said, and firefighters from the Rothsay and Elizabeth fire departments responded to the blaze along with Wilkin County sheriff's deputies.
Homeowners Kevin and Kimberly Tangen and their pets were not home at the time of the fire, Fiedler said.
Firefighters were at the home until about 12:30 or 1 a.m. Sunday, monitoring the scene, Fiedler said. The house is considered a total loss, he said.
The state fire marshal reported that the cause of the blaze was undetermined.
